SUARA OMBAK is a place lost in time. As your host, Pak Rober, (Row-bear) with years of surfing , sailing, and exploring always a little deeper around the archipelago, I will be there to assist you in finding the piece of Bali that you come for.

Originally coming to Bali as a surfer from California's central coast, I set SUARA OMBAK up as a surf outpost for my wife, myself, and my sons so that we could enjoy Bali's riches the way we liked. The years passed by quickly, and now Bali is in so many ways a different place, with the things that people come here to find becoming harder to touch. Be it culture, or pedal-to-the-medal adventure; I've probably had a glimpse of it, and I've helped many a traveler find their way as well.

The food we offer our guests is special, and you'll know it the minute you have your first bite. A bit of a healthy minded eater and a fanatic for a clean kitchen and the freshest produce and sea harvest, our food is prepared with the very highest quality ingredients without over concern about paying a little more for the real goods.  Dinners at Suara Ombak are home cooked Indonesian Style (with a little western twist… always garnished with super salad, for instance), and just might turn out to be one of the highlights of your trip.

My staff has been with me for a number of years, and are familiar with my pseudo Bali-Western surfer particular comfort needs.

Traditionally, being a "homestay" in Bali meant that local people provided you a space in a part of their compound. They would treat you like a guest in their home, feeding you and showing you what you wanted to find; surf, dances, …later on, of course discos, and other desirable nuggets of their cultural bubble. By quietly slipping small donations to a family leader, you remained welcome indefinitely. The accommodations were more romantic than they were truly comfortable, but the overall experience freed you completely from your everyday life. That, in itself made your whole trip worth millions, so you left them all a fat tip and were welcome back any time.

That was before Bali became a surf and cultural Mecca. There are few homestays to be found anymore. We proudly enjoy in carrying on the homestay tradition. At Suara Ombak we treat you better than family. Here, we provide a modernized edition of the bed and furnishings. Ours pampers with the sweet stuff that helps you forget about everything else and have a wonderful holiday.
