Now that Bali has come of age as an eternal surf Mecca, there are few secrets left untold. The legends that have grown around Ulu Watu and Padang padang have brought every kind of surfer, poser, photographer, feral and yeah, "what-have-you", out to the "bukit"; "the hill" in Indonesian language, to seek their various fortunes. Other waves have been found all around the peninsula of bukit, ulu watu, and nowadays, fill in for the hoards of game that come to ride the best known breaks.

Of the less exposed breaks, Bingin and Impossibles tend to be the most consistently ride worthy. The beaches here patch their way down from Padang padang and Ulu, and these days, wherever there's enough room next to a beach, the locals have erected some kind of feral palace that they'll rent to surfers for next to nothing, 10 bucks maybe.

It's a good life that can be found there, virtually on the sand, with a half dozen different excellent waves crashing a short paddle distant. Beautiful white sand beaches stretching before lines of headlands that cut the skyline and moderate offshore winds combing milky blue tropic waters… local women offer you cold soda, and massages, and you can have toasted sandwiches and instant noodles and cheap beer, as much as you can take, served up to your right there, on the spot.

You can have just about everything you've ever wanted except a little privacy, and simple space, and a bunch of the personal little luxuries you might like to see yourself treated to while you're on your vacation.
